Dmytro Kleban has completed his transfer from 'Cherkasy Mavpy' to 'Kharkiv Sokoly', bringing his rebounding prowess to a new club in the Ukrainian Superleague.
"We negotiated for a long time regarding Dmytro. He's a tall player with good technical qualities who confidently plays in isolation at the low post and, equally important, has a stable and quality three-point shot," – explained Valerii Plekhanov, head coach of 'Kharkiv Sokoly'.
Kleban made his Superleague debut just last season, appearing in 35 games for 'Cherkasy Mavpy' and helping the team secure bronze medals. His statistical line was solid for a newcomer at the highest level – averaging 7.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
Plekhanov emphasized that the team needed a big man capable of confidently battling against physically imposing opponents like Sandul or Zagreba "without feeling discomfort." By the way, the coach believes Kleban's potential remains untapped, adding that he knows exactly how to maximize the player's abilities.
Before joining 'Cherkasy Mavpy', Kleban played for 'Prometey' in the Ukrainian Higher League, where he was already handling a key role. His progression through the ranks has been steady.
Can Kleban take his game to the next level with 'Kharkiv Sokoly'? The upcoming season will surely put his skills to the test against the Superleague's elite big men.
