Luka Doncic has opened up about his preparation for the upcoming NBA season, addressing questions about his physical condition while defending his abilities as a player.

"There have always been quite a few questions about my physical form, but I believe that even before I was an excellent basketball player," Doncic stated.

The Lakers star explained the changes in his training regimen this year compared to last season. His previous campaign was particularly grueling, with games running until June before immediately transitioning to Olympic qualification games.

"What motivated me? Actually, we developed a slightly different plan, and I had a bit more time. Last year was very exhausting - I played until June, and then there were immediately qualifications for the Olympic Games, so there wasn't much energy left. This year there was a bit more, and the plan was different," he shared.

Doncic admitted the new approach wasn't easy at first. "Initially everything was difficult, but then it all became a matter of habit. It wasn't easy, but then everything just went its own way."

Interestingly, the Slovenian remains cautious about how these changes will translate to on-court performance. He's only had two team practices and five-on-five sessions since his last NBA appearance.

"I don't know if anything will be different now - there are only two team practices and five-on-five behind me. Before that, I hadn't played since the last NBA game, so we'll see," Doncic concluded.

The report also mentioned that Doncic has continued his partnership with the Lakers. Will his new training approach help him reach new heights this season? Basketball fans will be watching closely.
