Luka Doncic has finalized a lucrative new contract with the "Los Angeles Lakers," committing to the franchise for the next three years. The Slovenian basketball star's deal is worth a staggering $165 million, securing his future with the California team through 2028.
"This partnership with the Lakers represents the next chapter in my career, and I'm excited about what we can build together," Doncic might say about his new contract.
The development comes after "Dallas" surprisingly traded Doncic to the "Lakers" in February this year. Since joining the team, the European standout has formed what many consider a powerful duo with LeBron James, who recently extended his own contract with the "Lakers" through the 2025/26 season.
Interestingly, their first playoff campaign together didn't go as planned. Doncic and James saw an early exit in the first round, with "Minnesota" defeating them 4-1 in the series.
Despite the disappointing playoff result, the "Lakers" organization has clearly demonstrated their long-term commitment to building around these two stars. Will this expensive investment finally deliver the championship results Lakers fans expect? Only time will tell.
