Enzo Maresca has confirmed that "Chelsea" are actively looking to sign a new winger during the summer transfer window. The Italian manager addressed the issue ahead of the Blues' first match at the Club World Cup.
"Something will definitely happen. Jadon Sancho left, so we only have three profile wingers left," – Maresca stated, highlighting the impact of Sancho's departure on the squad's attacking options.
The situation has become more pressing for "Chelsea" following recent developments. Mykhailo Mudryk, one of the club's existing wing options, is currently unavailable after being suspended by the English Football Association. The Ukrainian winger tested positive for meldonium in a doping test.
By the way, it's worth noting that Mudryk reportedly underwent a lie detector test regarding the situation. The test results, however, haven't changed his current suspension status.
With limited options on the flanks and competitive fixtures piling up, Maresca's concern about squad depth makes perfect sense. Will the London club manage to secure a quality replacement before the transfer window closes?
