Kingsley Coman has received a call-up to the French national team after injuries sidelined PSG wingers Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue. The 29-year-old "Al-Nassr" winger will join "Les Bleus" as they continue their World Cup 2026 qualification campaign, according to the French Football Federation.
"This is an opportunity that comes at an important moment for both the team and for me personally," Coman might say about his unexpected call-up. "I'm ready to step in and contribute however I can."
Dembele and Doue picked up their injuries during France's away victory against Ukraine in their first World Cup 2026 qualifier. Initial reports suggest Dembele will be sidelined for approximately six weeks, while Doue faces a shorter recovery period of three to four weeks.
Interestingly, Coman brings considerable experience to the table, having already notched eight goals and five assists in 58 appearances for the national team. The "Al-Nassr" winger is expected to join the French camp tomorrow, September 7.
Didier Deschamps and his squad are preparing to face Iceland next Tuesday in Paris. The September 9 fixture will be crucial as France looks to build momentum in their qualification campaign. Can Coman make an immediate impact after being brought in as an injury replacement? The next match should give us some answers.
