Oleksandr Pikhalyonok scored the opener for Kyiv, but it wasn't enough as "Dynamo" fell to a 3-1 defeat against Danish side "Midtjylland" in their latest pre-season friendly.
The team led by Oleksandr Shevchenko started promisingly, taking the lead after 20 minutes when Pikhalyonok fought for a loose ball on the goalkeeper's line and managed to put it into the net.
However, the Danish opposition responded just 13 minutes later. Frankulino charged into the penalty area, cleverly beat two defenders, and calmly slotted the ball into the far corner to level the score at 1-1.
The second half began poorly for the Ukrainian side. Mikel Gogorza received the ball on the left flank in the 49th minute, cut into the penalty area, and fired into the far corner, giving "Midtjylland" the lead.
Just seven minutes later, the Danish team sealed their victory. A rapid counter-attack ended with a cross to Friday Etim, who redirected the ball into the net with a single touch, making it 3-1.
This marks the second defeat for "Dynamo" during their training camp, following an earlier loss to Kisvarda – though they did manage to defeat the same team in a later match. By the way, the Kyiv club made several changes throughout the game, with almost a completely different lineup playing in the second half.
"Dynamo" won't have much time to dwell on this defeat. Their next test comes quickly – tomorrow, July 11th, against English side "West Bromwich Albion" at 12:00.
Can Shevchenko's men bounce back with a better performance? The pre-season campaign continues with more opportunities to find form before competitive matches begin.
