Serhiy Sukhanov scored the only goal as "Obolon" Kyiv defeated "Oleksandriya" 1-0 in the second round of the 2025/26 Ukrainian Premier League. The midfielder's powerful long-range effort immediately after the break was enough to seal all three points for the home side at their Kyiv stadium.

"Sometimes you just need to take your chances from distance. I saw some space and decided to hit it," – Sukhanov explained after becoming the match-winner.

The first half offered little excitement for the fans, with neither team managing to create any meaningful scoring opportunities. But just seconds into the second period, Sukhanov broke the deadlock with a thunderous strike that gave the visitors' goalkeeper Shevchenko no chance.

"Oleksandriya" pushed for an equalizer but lacked the creativity needed to break down a well-organized Obolon defense. This defeat extends their poor run of form – it's now two consecutive losses in the league and four straight defeats across all competitions. Not great, is it?

Looking ahead, Obolon will travel to face "Rukh" next Friday, August 15, while "Oleksandriya" will try to snap their losing streak when they host "Metalist 1925" on Saturday, August 16.

By the way, both teams made several substitutions in the second half, with Obolon's manager bringing on Medynskyi, Semenov, Nesterenko, Prokopenko, and Feshchenko as they successfully defended their narrow advantage. Will this victory kickstart Obolon's season?
