Vladyslav Vanat scored a decisive goal to help Ukraine's U-21 team secure a 2-0 victory over Finland in their second Euro 2025 match. The forward, named player of the match, expressed his delight after the game while discussing his performance and the team's prospects.

"The impressions from the match are positive because we won and got closer to our goal — advancing from the group," Vanat said after receiving his award.

The goal didn't come easily for the Ukrainian striker, who had to navigate through a crowded defense before finding the net. He explained how the crucial moment unfolded: after receiving a pass from Oleh Ocheretko, Vanat's initial shot was followed by a quick reaction to score on the rebound after checking the goalkeeper's position.

The victory carries special significance for Vanat, who admitted feeling pressure as the oldest player in the squad with senior national team experience at European Championship level.

"This goal was very important for me. As the oldest player in the team who has played at the European Championship for the national team, I was under certain pressure. But I scored and I'm very happy," he confessed.

Interestingly, the match wasn't without controversy. Brajko received a red card after collecting two yellows, meaning he'll miss Ukraine's next fixture. When asked about this situation, Vanat reflected on his own past disciplinary issues.

"I once had a straight red card and was suspended for two matches. His is two yellows, so he'll be suspended for one game," Vanat explained. "We mentioned it after the match, but what advice can I give him? He's already 23 and should understand the situation himself."

The victory gives Ukraine a strong position in their group. Their next challenge? A tough match against the Netherlands scheduled for Wednesday, June 18 in Prešov, kicking off at 19:00.

Vanat also highlighted the impressive support from Ukrainian fans, noting that Košice's proximity to Ukraine allowed many supporters to attend. "We had great support in the stands because Košice is close to Ukraine. We're grateful to all our fans for their support."

When comparing the level of competition, the forward offered an interesting assessment of defenders at international level: "It seems to me that at the national team level, defenders are more high-class. But if you take the Danish team, their defenders are very good. It was difficult to play against them, and I think they could perform in top Ukrainian teams."

Can Ukraine secure qualification with a result against the Netherlands? With confidence building after this convincing win, Vanat and his teammates certainly believe they have a chance.
