Vitaly Cherniy has finalized the 12-player roster for Ukraine's U-16 women's basketball team ahead of their EuroBasket 2025 campaign. The Ukrainian squad will begin their continental championship journey on August 20 in Istanbul, with the tournament running until August 29.
"We've assembled a talented group ready to represent Ukraine on the European stage," – noted Cherniy, who leads the coaching staff for the upcoming tournament.
The roster features several players from "Frankivsk-Prykarpattya" basketball club, with four representatives: Dominika Murzova, Dalila Murzova, Victoria Byvalina, and Ekaterina Sapriga. All these athletes hail from Ivano-Frankivsk, making this city a significant contributor to the national youth team.
Kyiv has provided three players to the squad: Ekaterina Kolomiets (SDYUSSHOR po basketbolu-MOBI), Maria Gulyamova (DYUSH 3-Bagira), and Maryana Samsonova (KSL-Kyiv). Interestingly, the team also includes two players currently developing their skills abroad – Maria-Luiza Dzigora and Taisia Danileiko, both from the Cesis Sports School in Latvia.
The roster is completed by Antonina Glukhova from Odesa's SDYUSHOR named after B.D. Litvak, Ulyana Kosmach representing Frankivsk-Sportlitsey-DYUSH 2, and Victoria Maksimchuk from "BK Rovno."
By the way, this Division B European Championship represents a crucial development opportunity for these young athletes. Will Ukraine's talented squad make a splash in Istanbul? The basketball community awaits their first game on August 20 with great anticipation.
