History of Real Sociedad

Football in San Sebastian appeared at the beginning of the XX century, and already in 1909 the city got its own club - Real Sociedad. Its name means \"Royal Society\" because the team immediately received the patronage of King Alfonso XIII.

In the first decades the club did not claim big victories, but was a stable participant in La Liga. And then came a historical moment – 1980s. It was the heyday of Basque football: Atlético and Real Sociedad fought for the championship.
