Leicester: About
Leicester City Club Review
Leicester City is a club that has proven that nothing is impossible in football. Founded in 1884, the club was originally named Lester Foss, and in 1919 received its current name.
The home arena is King Power Stadium, where every match turns into a battle. But the club made a real explosion in 2016, when it became the champion of England, bypassing the giants and leaving the entire football world in shock.
Leicester City: the history of the club
For most of its existence, Leicester was a classic middle-of-the-pack balancing between the Premier League and the Championship. No big titles, no superstars, no ambitions for anything more.
Everything changed in 2010, when the club was acquired by Thai businessman Vishay Srivaddanaprabha.
In the 2014/15 season, Leicester miraculously avoided relegation from the Premier League, winning 7 of their last 9 matches. No one could have predicted that this team would make the biggest sensation in the history of football the very next season.
The 2015/16 season started without much expectation, but Claudio Ranieri's team, with Jamie Vardy, Riyadh Mahrez and N'Golo Kante, began to collect victory after victory. Bookmakers gave odds of 5000 to 1 for Leicester to win the championship. But it happened. In May 2016, the Foxes lifted the Premier League Cup over their heads.
Leicester City: King Power Stadium
Football clubs build legends not only because of victories, but also because of the atmosphere that prevails in their arenas. King Power Stadium, which accommodates 32 thousand fans, has become a real fortress for the "foxes".
The stadium, opened in 2002, has experienced ups and downs with the club. It was here that the team created the miracle-2016, it was here that the fans experienced the sad day of 2018, when the owner of the club Vishai Srivaddanaprabha died tragically.
