Andy Lee has shared his candid assessment of a potential heavyweight showdown between his fighter Joseph Parker and rising prospect Moses Itauma, describing it as a dangerous proposition for both boxers.

"Moses is the future of the heavyweight division. It's a risky fight for Moses. For Joe, it's also a risky fight. Beating Moses won't give Joe any advantages. He's already made a name for himself and is now a significant heavyweight, but Itauma is a prospect, while Joe is already at the top," Lee told Seconds Out.

The trainer of the interim WBO heavyweight champion didn't hold back when analyzing the potential matchup's implications. Parker, who currently holds temporary champion status, would be putting his position on the line against an unproven but highly touted prospect.

"There's risk for Joe in this fight, but there's also risk for Moses - if he fights Parker and Joe does his job, he might never be the same again. It's a risky fight for both guys. It's an exciting matchup. Perhaps for a vacant title, if it's worth it," Lee added.

Interestingly, Lee's comments come at a time when many in boxing circles are carefully watching how the heavyweight division's future will unfold. The mention of a possible vacant title fight suggests there could be movement at the top of the division soon.

By the way, Parker previously shared his thoughts on how to defeat Oleksandr Usyk, showing his ambitions extend beyond just potential matchups with prospects like Itauma.

Will this high-stakes battle between established champion and rising star actually materialize? The boxing world watches with interest.
