Gonçalo Guedes is set to join "Real Sociedad" from "Wolverhampton" in a surprisingly affordable €4 million transfer with an additional €2 million in variables. The Portuguese forward has already completed his medical examination and is expected to arrive at the Costa Vasca hotel in Donostia today at 1:00 PM before heading to Anoeta to sign his contract and pose with his new team's kit.

"We're pleased to welcome a player of Guedes' quality and experience to our project," a club source indicated about the imminent signing.

The 27-year-old will sign a three-year contract with the Spanish club, making him available for the league opener against his former team "Valencia" on August 16. Talk about perfect timing!

Interestingly, this transfer represents remarkable value for "Real Sociedad." Guedes previously commanded a €40 million fee when he joined "Valencia" from "PSG" in 2018, and later cost "Wolverhampton" more than €32 million in 2022. His current price tag makes him cheaper than several of the club's recent signings including Sucic, Zakharyan, Óskarsson, and Take Kubo.

The Portuguese winger's career has stalled somewhat in recent seasons, but this move could provide the perfect opportunity for rejuvenation. If coach Sergio Gonzalez can help Guedes rediscover his best form, this might turn out to be one of the shrewdest pieces of business "Real Sociedad" has conducted in years.

Can Guedes finally recapture the form that once made him one of Europe's most promising attackers? We'll soon find out at Anoeta.
