Ibai Llanos shattered Twitch viewership records with La Velada del Año V, his annual boxing event that drew over 9 million concurrent viewers during the live broadcast from Seville's La Cartuja stadium on July 26, 2025.
"Thanks from the heart. For the fourth consecutive year, a record on Twitch. More than 9 million. I don't know what happened. Thanks to all the workers. Absolutely everyone. Thank you for being part of this new edition of La Velada," Llanos said while closing the event.
The fifth edition featured seven boxing matches between popular content creators from Spain and Latin America. In the main event, Spanish streamer TheGrefg defeated Colombian WestCOL by technical knockout after dominating the final rounds. The victory was decisive enough that TheGrefg himself acknowledged the physical difference between them was the determining factor.
"I was surprised by WestCOL. He's very brave. He won because he had a spectacular change of habits. I took the fight because of the physical difference. He fought like a champion," TheGrefg commented after his victory.
Other notable wins included Viruzz maintaining his undefeated record by defeating Argentina's Tomás Mazza, Perxitaa surprising everyone with a technical knockout victory over Gaspi, and Abby winning a split decision in one of the most evenly matched fights against RoRo.
Interestingly, the event broke Twitch records even before the first fight began. The previous record of 3.85 million viewers from last year's edition was quickly surpassed, eventually reaching more than 9 million concurrent viewers - a figure that Ibai himself seemed amazed by.
Beyond the fights, the evening featured performances from major musical acts including Melendi, Los Del Río (who performed their iconic "Sevilla tiene un color especial" for the home crowd), Grupo Frontera, Aitana, and Myke Towers. The combination of boxing and music transformed La Cartuja stadium into an entertainment spectacle for the 80,000 fans in attendance.
Despite initial doubts and criticism, Llanos has once again demonstrated his ability to organize massive events that capture global attention. Will next year's edition manage to break this seemingly insurmountable viewership record?
