Nuria Párrizas has been called up to the Spanish national tennis team for the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup Finals in China. The 34-year-old from Granada joins Paula Badosa, Jessica Bouzas, Cristina Bucsa, and Aliona Bolsova in the squad confirmed by captain Carla Suárez on Friday.
"We've assembled a strong team for the Finals in Shenzhen," – the Spanish captain might have noted when announcing the squad.
Párrizas returns to the national setup after being part of the team that competed in last year's Finals in Málaga, though she didn't actually play in any matches. Her recent form has been impressive – she's managed to climb back into the world's Top-100 this season after capturing a title at the WTA 125 event in Valencia and reaching the semifinals in tournaments in Canberra and Bari.
The Spanish team will begin their campaign in the tennis world cup on Wednesday, September 17, when they face Ukraine in the quarter-finals. By the way, all matches will start at 5:00 PM local time in Shenzhen (11:00 AM in Spain) and will be broadcast live on Teledeporte.
The tournament, officially known as the Billie Jean King Cup 2025 by Gainbridge, will run from September 16-21 in Shenzhen. Can the Spanish squad make a deep run in this prestigious team competition? With Párrizas joining such a talented roster, their chances certainly look promising.
