Tommy Fury has admitted the last six months of his life have been "absolute torture" as he struggles with public attention following his boxing comeback and relationship reconciliation with Molly-Mae Hague.
The 26-year-old boxer made these revelations in a teaser for his upcoming BBC documentary "Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury," set to release on August 19th. While currently vacationing in Turkey with Molly-Mae and their daughter Bambi, Fury's comments suggest his public life remains challenging despite the family holiday.
"My life has been absolute torture for the past six months. Horrible. Going out in public, getting screamed at. And when you go out in public and someone says something, what are you meant to do? Tip your head and f****** walk on?" Fury confessed during a conversation with his father, John Fury.
The British fighter pointed to social media as the root of his problems while acknowledging its financial benefits: "The reason why all of this is here is because of social media. And it is because you have a profile, and people are interested in you. If you did not, you would be f*****. You would not earn a penny."
Interestingly, these comments come after Fury's return to the ring in May, when he defeated Kenan Hanjalic in Budapest – his first fight in nearly two years. Following that victory, he immediately called out Jake Paul, with whom he has unfinished business.
"Jake Paul's a b**** and he's running scared. Hey Jake, the hand is fixed now baby," Fury declared post-fight. "I guarantee next time, I will knock you spark out."
The potential rematch with Paul has gained traction, with the American YouTuber-turned-boxer expressing interest but criticizing Fury's financial demands. Paul even reached out to Tommy's brother, heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, about the situation.
"I think the Fury fight will happen in the next 12 months," Paul told Ariel Helwani. "He just has to be realistic about what's he's worth. I DM'd Tyson Fury because Tyson was like, 'You guys need to make this happen now.'"
Paul didn't hold back in his criticism of Tommy's management: "His dad, who is his manager, has no idea what the f*** he's doing and you can't let your dad run your career. Tommy's not his own boss, he's an airhead as well."
Reports suggest Fury may take another fight before potentially facing Paul again, though nothing has been confirmed. With Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk reportedly in separate discussions with Paul, will Tommy's desired rematch materialize, or will he need to wait even longer for his shot at redemption?
