Randy Couture suffered first and second-degree burns in a serious accident while preparing for his hot rod racing debut. The five-time UFC champion in light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions is now receiving treatment at a burn center in Kansas City.
The 61-year-old MMA legend, nicknamed "Captain America," was looking to expand his competitive career into customized retro car racing when the incident occurred. His vehicle was completely destroyed in the crash.
"Couture's condition is stable, and there is no threat to his life," hospital representatives confirmed.
Besides the serious burns, Couture reportedly sustained other injuries during the accident. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been revealed by officials.
Interestingly, this comes at a time when other UFC fighters are exploring different competitive avenues. Michael Chandler, for example, is reportedly preparing to try his hand at World Wrestling Entertainment.
Will Couture return to hot rod racing after recovery? The veteran fighter has shown remarkable resilience throughout his career, but this accident might force a reconsideration of his motorsport ambitions.
